I'm a huge fan of MagMod system, have been using it for 2,5 years now on weddings and sessions. Love how easy it is, and have been using the correction gels for beach sessions (using the 1/2 blue one makes the sunset even more "sunsetty").
Thus, when the 2nd generation of these correction gels came out, I was more than excited to use them, as they're so easy to mount now. The gel is not 1/2 blue at all, but like full blue or more - the example shot is the out of the camera file with temp at 6050. I reached out to MagMod support and they didn't comment much on the issue itself or if it would be resolved shortly (3rd gen gels??), and the end result was a 50% refund for the gels that I still got to keep. As I'm most frequently using the 1/2 blue one, I'll just have to set aside these gels and keep using the 1st gen ones.
I still love MagMod products and keep using them on the weddings (the new MagSphere 2 is amazing!), just that this one in particular did not work for me, and if you're a photographer who is looking for a similar solution, be aware that this 1/2 blue is much more intense (I haven't tried the…
