When Using SpeedlitesWhen Using Studio Strobes
MagRing or Speedring
If you shoot with speedlights.
You’ll need the MagRing + MagGrip. The MagRing allows you to use 1-2 speedlights or a round head flash. The MagGrip connects the MagRing to the flash itself.
If you shoot with studio strobes.
You’ll need the MagBox Speedring Adapter. This attaches directly to your strobes - no MagGrip needed. You'll need to select the adapter with the correct mounting style to fit your specific studio light.

Will the MagBox Pro 36 Strip work with my original MagRing?
Yes, but you will want to upgrade to the MagShoe 2 if you also have an original MagShoe for mounting your MagRing.
Will my light stand support the MagBox Pro 36 Strip?
Yes, nearly any light stand should support it. However if you plan on having it set up in an area where it may be jostled, outside where it’s windy, where the ground is soft or uneven, or at a lengthy extension we do recommend adding a supporting weight such as a sandbag at the base of the stand to provide additional stability and support.
The 36 inch strip box is an awesome modifier. I have two of them and I use them in my work in conjunction with the new beauty dish! It makes a perfect creative light modifier as well as an awesome hair light or rim light. Adding gels to all of the Magmod modifiers are super simple and it helps streamline every part of my creative process. Great tools!

I love my MagBox Pro 36 strip!
I am a portrait/headshot photographer, I am mobile.
I shoot in a studio, at the customer’s location and environmental locations. Looking for easy setup. And MagMod system is Great for this! I have two 24” softbox, 42” softbox (I use the most) and now a 36” strip box and use all with grids. I used a 42” reflections but now I have more control using the 36” strip box. I can this box many ways. Front, fill, side,hair and even a main light position. This box gives me many options.

Very easy to set up
I regularly do multiple photo sessions a week where I use two MagBox Pro 36 as my rim lights in sports portraits. I am a one person team having to set up all my equipment, so anything I can do to save myself time is important. While these are not the least expensive strip boxes out there, the fact that I can set them up (as well as break them down) in about 30-40 seconds makes it worth it for me. The build quality is also very good, I have been using mine for 3 years and they have held up great. I just purchased two more
The only negative is they don't come in a 48" size - hoping MagMod comes out that version soon.
