Thank you for your honest feedback. You have a lot of experiences going on so I am going to focus on the magnets.
The Sphere more than likely has a magnet backward. Each Magnet side has a different polarity. One that attracts and one that will push away. If the magnet was not placed in right it will push away from the MagGrip.
The best way to separate your magnets is by sliding them apart. It's nearly impossible if you try to pull them apart, but sliding them always works for me. You can also use the edge of a table or desk or counter to get a little bit more leverage. This is exactly the way that I separate those big magnets. I would recommend finding an edge that has a sharp corner... rounded corners are not quite as effective.
I'd recommend checking out this quick (non-MagMod) YouTube video about how to separate magnets using the edge of a desk or table: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oq9BfK5-7IM
Please take care to not use any tools as it may damage the silicone.
To learn more ;) a good resource to utilize is our Facebook Community Page (#MagMod Community).
It's a closed group (just ask to join) of photographers from all over the world learning and growing in their craft. Many photographers post pictures and often tell you what their settings were, where the flash was, what MagMod modifier(s) they used, etc. It's a great place to come together, ask questions, seek and give critique, and be inspired!
