Compatibility
We know it’s hard to believe that a system can truly be universal...
But with MagMod it’s true!
The MagMod modifier system works because of the universal design of the MagGrip 2. The MagGrip 2 is a patented design made of high-quality silicone rubber which makes it easy to stretch and fit onto almost any hot-shoe flash. In addition, the MagGrip 2 contains two rare earth magnets used to attach the MagMod line of flash modifiers including the MagGrid 2, the MagSphere 2, the MagBounce 2, and more!
There’s only one MagGrip design, so you don’t have to worry about getting different sizes for different flashes. While we haven't tested the MagGrip 2 with every flash on the market, we are confident that the MagGrip will work with most flashes that have a rectangular flash head and round head flashes.
The MagBeam’s collapsible design isn’t just for portability. Collapse it down all the way, swap in a Wide Lens, add a MagMask, and now you’ve transformed it into a pattern-projecting-thing-of-wonder. Mind. Blown.
MagMasks are our custom-made stainless steel 'gobos' that create patterns to project through the MagBeam anywhere you want. Sweet huh?

What's different with this version of the MagBeam?
Ah, the beloved MagBeam gets an upgrade! What's new, you ask? Well, firstly, we've reinforced those magnets for a snugger fit, ensuring your modifiers stay securely in place. And secondly, brace yourself for enhanced projection capabilities, because your light deserves to reach new heights! Same MagBeam you adore, now a little bit better.
Are the MagMasks & Lenses compatible with the previous versions (and the inverse for the old beam)
Absolutely! The 'new' MagBeam comes with a few subtle updates, but rest assured, they won't impact compatibility with your existing gear. We've fine-tuned some elements, ensuring seamless integration with your beloved MagMod arsenal. So, whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, you can continue creating magic with confidence.
What else do I need in order to project patterns?
Expand your toolkit for boundless creativity! Alongside the MagBeam, ensure you have the Wide Lens and MagMasks, conveniently included in the MagMask Kit. These essential companions elevate your lighting game, offering versatility and precision for every shot. Whether you're sculpting light or adding captivating effects, this trio empowers you to craft stunning visuals.
What is included in the MagBeam?
The MagBeam comes standard with
1x - MagBeam
1x - Tele Lens
1x - MagGrip 2
Do I need the MagGrip to use the MagBeam?
Absolutely! Consider the MagGrip 2 the backbone of the MagMod Core Line. Once it's snugly attached to your flash, you're ready to dive into a world of creative possibilities with any MagMod Modifier, including the game-changing MagBeam. And here's the cherry on top: every MagBeam comes complete with its own MagGrip, ensuring you have everything you need to start shaping light like a pro right out of the box.
What is the difference between the tele lens and the wide lens?
The MagBeam Tele Lens is a precision 210mm fresnel lens, it expertly focuses your flash's light into a dynamic spotlight effect, amplifying your output by approximately 3 stops.
The MagBeam Wide Lens is a 35mm fresnel lens designed to effortlessly project captivating patterns (MagMasks) inserted between the flash head and the lens.
Can I buy just the MagBeam by itself?
At the moment, our MagBeam is exclusively available in a configuration that includes the essential Tele Lens and a MagGrip 2. This all-in-one package ensures you have everything you need to unleash the full potential of the MagBeam right out of the box.
I took this image of a Gambel Quail at dusk when I normally would have put my camera in the bag.
This was taken at exactly 66 feet shooting up a hill in the shadow of a bush just before the sun went down.
And I wasn't even at full power on my V1 Godox flash!
Now I can get those "had-to-get shots" by using the MagBeam

Intensify's light pronto!
I use the MagBeam often when I'm on the red rocks of Sedona shooting a romantic landscape across a ravine and need that extra punch of light. I also use inside Reception rooms, so I can tuck it far in a corner and still get the light I need for the dance floor. Be sure and store it in a protective box, as I learned the hard way from a toss into the flash bag, the plastic "beam" broke.
