When Using SpeedlitesWhen Using Studio Strobes
MagRing or Speedring
If you shoot with speedlights.
You’ll need the MagRing + MagGrip. The MagRing allows you to use 1-2 speedlights or a round head flash. The MagGrip connects the MagRing to the flash itself.
If you shoot with studio strobes.
You’ll need the MagBox Speedring Adapter. This attaches directly to your strobes - no MagGrip needed. You'll need to select the adapter with the correct mounting style to fit your specific studio light.

Before the MagBox, adding color to a large softbox was next to impossible. The MagBox's patent-pending design ingeniously adapts gels to larger softbox modifiers for the first time ever, which made it the first gel-able softbox.
A zipper built right into the side of the MagBox makes it easier for you to swap out the colored gels during your shoot without removing the diffuser or fabric grid.

Will the MagBox Pro 42 Octa work with my original MagRing?
Yes, but you will want to upgrade to the MagShoe 2 if you also have an original MagShoe for mounting your MagRing.
Will my light stand support the MagBox Pro 42 Octa?
Yes, nearly any light stand should support it. However if you plan on having it set up in an area where it may be jostled, outside where it’s windy, where the ground is soft or uneven, or at a lengthy extension we do recommend adding a supporting weight such as a sandbag at the base of the stand to provide additional stability and support.

Super easy
Great light box. Super easy to setup. Just make sure that you have all the accessories needed since it’s modular. Definitely get the grid also.

Easy to use but zipper already failed
I like the concept and ease of use, however the zipper on the outside already broke. Doesn’t affect anything but still a bummer it broke.

Love it!
I purchased this for headshots and I absolutely love it! Easy to assemble and disassemble, lightweight, and I love their magnetic system. Easy to pop on and off the mount however strong enough to stay on and withstand being moved around. While my tripod is not lifted to proper height in the photo you can see the set up, visual for size, and the strength of the magnet.
