Yes, you will need the MagGrip 2 to attach any MagMod Modifier onto your flash. The MagGrip 2 is the "adapter" piece that is the base of our system. It has two super strong rare earth magnets embedded in it so that all of the other MagMod Modifiers (also with embedded magnets) attach to it quickly, quietly, and securely.
Will the MagGrip 2 Fit My Flash?
The MagMod modifier system works so well because we designed the MagGrip to be universal and fit most any hot-shoe flash. The MagGrip 2 is made of high-quality silicone rubber which makes it easy to stretch and fit onto almost any hot-shoe flash.
While we haven't tested the MagGrip 2 with every flash on the market, we are confident that the MagGrip 2 will work with most flashes that have a rectangular flash head, with many round head flashes, and with those that are close in shape.

Will the MagGrip 2 work with round head flashes?
We are happy to say that MagMod 2 is designed to work with the new popular round heads such as the Profoto A1, Godox V1, and Westcott FJ80, as well as standard rectangular fresnel head flashes! MagMod 2 modifiers were optimized for current round-head flashes and each is optimized to be used with new MagMod 2 modifiers better than when used with original MagMod modifiers.
How do I install the MagGrip 2 on larger flash heads?
The MagGrip 2 is designed to be universal, while also providing a secure fit. This way, it stays attached to your speedlite even throughout lots of use! This means it can be a little tricky to install it on your speedlite, that is, until you learn a handy little trick! Once you try it, all your future MagGrip 2 installations will be a breeze!

The concept of using magnets as a way to make flash modifies quick and easy to use was genius. Having the MagGrip 2 mounted on all my flashes, and using the MagMod modifies to help shape and soften my flash makes the decision of using flash in a photo or not an easy choice. Because of the speed and strength of the MagMod system to quickly get setup, I have utilized off camera flash on more of my photoshoots than prior to using this system. The MagGrip 2 is the heart of the system!
